AfterSchool Program Guidelines
Welcome to
the Benton church of Christ AfterSchool Program (ASP). As
you know, the ASP is designed for children of working
parents. (Either both parents work outside the home or the
single parent works outside the home.) Therefore, we ask that
you please pick up your child promptly after you have finished
at work for the day. We also ask that you please not send
your child to ASP if you have the day off. We encourage
parents to spend as much time as possible with their children.
On the
first day of school, please send a note to your child’s
teacher informing her that your child will be attending the
Benton church of Christ AfterSchool Program. Also, you should
list your child’s bus drop-off location as the Benton church
of Christ.

Please
pick up your child through the back entrance of the church
building. Parents (or those authorized on the information
card) are required to sign their child out each day, noting
the time. DO NOT allow your child to sign himself/herself
out. All those allowed to pick up your child must be on your
child’s information card. If an emergency arises, the person
picking up your child may be asked to show proof of
identification. This is for your child’s protection!
We will be
having special days throughout the school year, such as our
Christmas Party. Please be looking for notes on the dry-erase
board by the back entrance as well as in the yellow ASP folder
that I will send home.
Please
know that bringing friends who are not enrolled in the ASP is
discouraged. If a child needs to have a friend come with them
on Friday, please notify us a few days in advance and the
decision will be left to the director/teacher’s discretion.
If your
child needs to attend on a day that he/she does not normally come,
it is NO PROBLEM…we are here to help you! Please call the
church office or the direct line and let us know to be looking
for him/her. Just remember that he/she will need to be
picked up by 5:00 pm.
We
appreciate the good things that we hear from parents about the
AfterSchool Program. We know that parents want to share
information with other parents who are in need of a program
such as this. We ask if you tell others about the
AfterSchool Program that you let them know their name will be put
on the waiting list.
***Remember, if Marshall County Schools are not in session
for any reason or if school is dismissed early, ASP will
NOT be in session.
ASP Rules:
Can be summed up into two words, GOLDEN RULE.
We ask that each child treat others, both children and
AfterSchool staff, as they want to be treated. If we have
problems with a child, we will talk to his/her parent(s)
first. If the problems persist we will ask the parent(s) to
make other arrangements for the child’s AfterSchool care.
